Instead, at about dinner time, the lights suddenly went out, the ship tilted to one side and an ominous scraping sound was heard. The 1500-cabin luxury vessel, also carrying about 1000 crew, had run aground on a sand bar off the tiny island of Giglio.

However, and let’s suppose he was coordinating the impossible (crew had no prep at all, captain alone and in the dark), how could he ever know how many men, women and children were still on board (as Commander Di Falco ordered) ??? @soeffingwhat yeah I agree, and you wont believe this but on saturday 14 me and my family arrived from a cruise trip :S It went from Argentina to Brasil and to Argentina again, we were really shocked about this because this type of accidents are very rare ( just as u said) and we had just had a trip, luckily nothing happened? to ours and we are just fine but still it impacted our lives very hard. Im very sad for the lifes that were lost…
