My Cruise Club.com announces the worldÂ?s first and only cruise rate reduction guarantee program.
(PRWEB) September 15, 2004
This technological and service achievement is truly unprecedented as it has automated the process of checking the daily cruise rates on every ship, every cabin, every date for every client booked with My Cruise Club. Studies show that many consumers wait on the sidelines to book a cruise, in the hopes that the price may be reduced as the sailing date gets closer. The reality is that while some cruises may have rate reductions, many others sell out or rise in price. Never before has there been a way for the consumer to be sure of always paying the lowest possible price for a cruise. Other agencies arenÂ?t always vigorous about checking for lower rates as it results in lower commissions and consumers donÂ?t often know that a reduced rate has become available.
Cruise rates can vary day by day, with some promotions appearing and disappearing in a matter of hours. Until now, an agent or a client would have to check constantly to be aware of any and all promotions that could result in their cruise being offered for a lower rate. That prospect was literally impossible for any agency with a large volume of bookings. My Cruise Club has created a computer program that automatically checks the daily rate for every client that has a cruise booked with their company. This feature can save hundreds of dollars on cruise bookings simply by re-fareing current cruise rates!
In light of the new RCCL and Celebrity rules to not allow discounting, this guarantee will assure clients that they will be paying the lowest amount on their cruise. Most agencies will check at time of final payment, but by then, there may have been various promos that have come and gone. Some agencies will re-fare without a fee, while others have fees and some have a policy against any re-fareing. The cruise lines will almost always allow a re-fare up until final payment and sometimes beyond. The process of manually checking each and every booking 24/7 is far too labor intensive and costly for any agency to be able to do, especially since the net result is that they earn less commission.
My Cruise Club charges no fees to the consumer to re-fare. It is another innovation designed to further enhance their commitment to offer cruises online at the lowest possible rates. My Cruise Club may be making this software available for purchase/lease to other agencies soon. Interested agencies can contact My Cruise Club at info@mycruiseclub.com

Viking River Cruises Announces $ 250 Million Fleet Development Program
Los Angeles (Vocus) May 26, 2010
Viking River Cruises, the world leader in the river cruise industry, today released details of its fleet development program, which includes eight new builds and two comprehensive refurbishments: a $ 250 million commitment over the next three years.
Adding eight new vessels will bring the total number of ships operated by the company to 26, an increase in capacity of more than 40%, thus reinforcing Viking’s position as the world’s largest river cruise line. The first new ship, Viking Prestige, will premier in Europe in 2011. Also making its debut in 2011, Viking Emerald will sail in China as a replacement for Viking Century Sun. Additional European vessels will follow in 2012 and 2013.
“Over the past decade, Viking has established river cruising as a mainstream means of travel,” said Torstein Hagen, Chairman of Viking River Cruises. “At the same time, we believe that river cruising is still in its infancy, and has tremendous growth potential. Our fleet plans will benefit the industry as a whole, by increasing supply in a marketplace in which demand is exceeding available inventory.”
Since entering the North American market in 2000, Viking River Cruises has continued to set the standard for the industry with best-in-class river cruise ships, award-winning service, outstanding quality and all-inclusive itineraries offered at a competitive price. Today, Viking is the only river cruise company to operate in the five regions of Europe, Russia, Ukraine, China and Egypt. It maintains its leadership position with the industry’s highest market share—more than double that of its nearest competitor. The addition of new ships will further build on that margin.
“Innovation, quality and unparalleled service are cornerstones upon which Viking was built,” stated Hagen. “Unlike other river cruise lines, Viking can confidently say that we hire and train all of our own staff aboard our ships, we own many docking locations along Europe’s major rivers and we control every aspect of our product—from nautical and tour planning to service and catering. This is what makes our guests the most satisfied in the industry. We see this consistently confirmed as Viking River Cruises has won virtually all consumer and trade awards—making us the world’s most award-winning river cruise line.”
New ships lead the way to the future
Making its debut in 2011 is Europe’s Viking Prestige, a 189-bed sister ship to the company’s flagship Viking Legend, the industry’s first “green” river cruise vessel which has been extremely favorably received in the marketplace. With the same efficient, hybrid propulsion system, Viking Prestige will use significantly less fuel and provide a smoother, quieter ride than other ships. Viking Prestige will host guests on the company’s popular 8-day Romantic Danube itinerary, sailing from Budapest to Nuremberg. With French balconies on the top two decks, the largest suites on the Danube and the latest amenities—the ship represents the environmentally responsible future of Viking’s European vessels.
In 2004, Viking was the first to have western-operated ships sailing China’s Yangtze River, and the company’s innovative ship design exemplifies the standard in the region. In 2011, Viking will also introduce Viking Emerald, the newest and most elegant ship in China. The 264-guest vessel will feature the largest suites in river cruising—the 840-square-foot Presidential Suites will have separate sitting and sleeping areas, two flat-screen televisions, panoramic windows and a private wrap-around balcony—as well as deluxe 269-square-foot staterooms with hotel-style beds and private balconies. Like Viking Century Sun, Viking Emerald will not only meet, but exceed Western standards: it will feature a state-of-the-art kitchen where Asian and European cuisine will be prepared by a catering staff trained and managed by Viking’s Swiss management team.
Each of the new European ships will feature Viking’s signature décor: sophisticated, understated elegance. Reminiscent of the design philosophy of the storied Royal Viking Line, the concepts have been realized by renowned Norwegian maritime architects Yran & Storbraaten, who also designed ships for Silversea and Seabourn. Viking Prestige, with all-outside staterooms and unobstructed panoramic views throughout, will be built by the Neptun Shipyard in Rostock, Germany, part of the esteemed Meyer Neptun Group.
“While we are proud of Viking’s role in the development of our industry,” continued Mr. Hagen, “as an innovator, we focus on the future, pushing ourselves to an ever-higher level in every aspect of what we do. This multi-year fleet development program reinforces Viking’s commitment to our guests, to our travel agent partners and to an industry that will continue its double-digit growth for years to come.”
Complete refurbishments increase the quality of the fleet
In addition to new ships, Viking River Cruises has announced plans for two complete refurbishments to its existing fleet. Scheduled for completion in 2011, Viking Pakhomov will undergo a full bow-to-stern renovation like those of its Russian sister ships, Viking Surkov and Viking Kirov, relaunched in 2008 and 2009 respectively. The ship will be stripped down to its hull, and rebuilt to satisfy the exacting standards of today’s passengers. It will feature all deluxe staterooms with hotel-style beds, flat-panel televisions and the latest amenities. Public areas, such as the restaurant, lounges, library and bar, will also be completely remodeled with Viking’s signature Scandinavian décor. Viking Surkov, Viking Kirov and Viking Pakhomov are the best ships sailing Russia’s famed Volga, Neva and Svir Rivers between Moscow and St. Petersburg. With the purchase in 1997 of four Russian ships, Viking River Cruises was the first to own vessels in this country. Through these complete refurbishments, Viking renews its commitment to maintaining the highest standards in a region where very few of its competitors even have a presence.
In Europe, Viking Schumann, a ship purpose-built for the Elbe River with a shallow draft and pump-jet engines, will receive bow-to-stern refurbishments to match those of sister ship Viking Fontane for 2010. While all public areas of Viking Schumann, including the restaurant, bar and lounge, will be refurbished, the most substantial changes are planned for stateroom accommodations. On the upper deck, eight 180-square-foot deluxe staterooms are to be created, while all standard staterooms will be upgraded with standard-size beds. The décor throughout the ship will have Viking’s signature sophisticated elegance.
Viking’s all-inclusive pricing features accommodations, all meals, daily guided shore excursions and more. Also, Viking is the only river cruise line to include port charges in the cruise fare.

Princess Cruises Announces New Smoking Policy
Santa Clara, CA (PRWEB) June 15, 2011
Princess Cruises has announced that smoking will no longer be allowed in passenger staterooms or on balconies, effective on all sailings departing after January 15, 2012.
The new policy reflects changing customer preferences and the move around the globe – from North America to Europe – to further restrict areas where smoking is allowed, according to the line.
“Our consumer studies now show that smokers are a small minority of our passengers, and that the large majority of passengers value having their primary living space onboard smoke-free,” said Jan Swartz, Princess Cruises executive vice president.
Swartz added that balconies are included in the new policy because they are a hallmark feature of Princess ships, and the line believes it’s important to keep that peaceful space clear of smoke.
She added that Princess still welcomes passengers who smoke, and will continue to provide special venues around the ship to accommodate smokers. Smoking will continue to be allowed in the Churchill’s cigar lounge, a section of the disco and casino, and a portion of the open decks.
Booked passengers are being notified of the new policy, which is also being communicated widely throughout the line’s informational materials.
Additional information about Princess Cruises is available through a professional travel agent, by calling 1-800-PRINCESS, or by visiting the company’s website at http://www.princess.com.

My Cruise Club Announces an Innovative, No-Fee Cruise Travel Employee Benefit Program
(PRWEB) October 31, 2003
Rooms to Go has become the newst major employer to sign on to this new employee benefit for their 5,000 + employees. Companies with more than 500 employees can now receive a custom, private label cruise travel booking website to allow their employees to book cruise travel at substantial savings.
There is no cost to the company and the rates quoted on the employee only cruise travel site are guaranteed to be 9%less than any cruise line directly and less than Travelocity, Expedia, Orbitz and Yahoo. This is a benefit that employees can enjoy now. A young staff may be less interested in retirement plans than it is in saving money on their next Christmas vacation.
Companies can simply add a link to their intranet to allow the employee to access the unique cruise booking website set up for that company. The employee would be able to search for and book a cruise on any cruise line at a substantial 9% discount. In contrast with complicated and costly point-based travel incentive programs now offered by a few companies to their employees, this benefit is free and easy.
It is a benefit that is recognized by employees as having real money saving value. With 11 million people cruising annually and 82% of them using the Internet to research their cruises, this new service will surely be among the employees most useful.

Cruise Network.com Announces Winners in Ultimate Mother’s Day Carnival Cruises Giveaway
(PRWEB) July 27, 2005
Cruise Network.com, a leading national provider of cruise information, cruise ship reviews, and cruise vacations aboard some of the most magnificent cruise ships at sea today, began the contest on May 1, 2005 in commemoration of the special holiday which fell on Sunday, May 8th. More than 3,000 applicants from all across the country submitted stories and special memories explaining why their special mother, or a special mom they knew, deserved to be chosen as the recipient of an incredible free cruise vacation.
The 10 finalists and their loved one will be awarded with a 5-night Caribbean cruise for two aboard Carnival Cruise Line’s Inspiration.
Coming from all different backgrounds and from every corner of the country, each of these 10 amazing women is extraordinary in her own way. The one thing they all have in common though is the fact that through selfless dedication, unrelenting will, and undying love, they have each deeply touched and forever changed the life of someone else.
Cruise Network decided to hold the contest in memory of an inspirational member of their own family. As president and CEO of Cruise Network Jai George fondly recalls, it was his very own grandmother, Theresa, who made an everlasting impact on his life.
Â?When my father was only eight years old, my grandfather became very ill. Suddenly, my grandmother, who had never worked a real job in her life, was solely responsible for providing for her entire family. She worked long, tiresome days at two factory jobs. It was hard work, but she never complained, doing whatever she had to do to provide for her son…my father, Mr. Lonen George.Â?
Lonen George is actually the youngest of 10 children. Tragically, all nine of his older siblings passed awayÂ?the result of a devastating plague that swept across parts Europe during the early 20th Century.
Jai continuesÂ?Â?Even after my father completed engineering school and could give my grandmother anything she wanted, she never asked for anything. She knew she had already been given the greatest gift a mother could ever receive, seeing her son living the life she always dreamed he would have. Sadly, my grandmother has now passed away…and though she is greatly missed, her memory still lives on, as each and every day my family and I continue to live out her dreamÂ?the incredible life that she so selflessly created for us.Â?
Theresa spent virtually her entire life ensuring those around her felt happy and loved, and certainly never asked for anything in return. She never even had the chance to take a vacation…of any kind, something she most undoubtedly deserved.
In loving memory of Theresa and all she did for everyone she touched during her incredible life, Cruise Network wanted to give others from around the country the opportunity to say thank you in a very big way to special mothers in their own lives.
Every story received was undeniably amazing and positively inspiring, but the 10 remarkable ladies chosen as the winners of this year’s Ultimate Mother’s Day Carnival Cruise Giveaway are: Lorraine Sherriff Allen, Martha Blake, Catherin Demertzis, Katherine Frantz, Le Thi Huynh, Gayle Erickson Blake, Victoria Knopf, Janet Odorcich, Donna Phillips, and Linda Wise.
Each of these spectacular women exemplifies every aspect of the words love, compassion, and dedication. Their undying love, sacrifice, and support to ensure that all those around them are happy, healthy, and loved, makes them all truly deserving of this exciting award. All 10 mothers and one guest of their choice will come together aboard the Carnival Inspiration on December 10, 2005, for an unforgettable Caribbean cruise vacation. A small token of gratitude for someone that has done so much for so many people.
To read more about each individual mother and her own special story, visit Cruise Network’s Ultimate Mother’s Day Giveaway Winners.

Seattle, WA (PRWEB) October 28, 2009
Inspired by the intrepid journeys and legendary explorations of Leif Eriksson to the New World, three voyages mark the third chapter of small-ship exploration line Cruise West’s epic world adventure, Voyages of the Great Explorers. Starting from Honfleur, France and ending in St. John’s, Newfoundland, guests will visit the United Kingdom and Scandinavia — with excursions to multiple UNESCO World heritage sites — before charting a course across the North Atlantic.
Guests will save up to $ 1,550 per person ($ 3,100 per cabin) and receive free round trip international airfare from five select U.S. Cities: San Francisco (SFO), Los Angeles (LAX), Chicago (ORD), Washington D.C. (IAD) and New York (JFK) or an air credit of $ 750 per person by booking and paying in full by December 18, 2009.
In addition to an included excursion at every port, each of the three voyages will be enhanced by an extraordinary ‘Ultimate Explorers Experience’ (UEE), designed to bring guests into direct personal contact with fascinating peoples, cultures and natural wonders. Engaging presentations by notable experts on the region’s culture, history and current events will bring each region to life.
The Viking’s adventures come alive in three distinct voyages
Cruise West’s own “Modern Day Explorer” Captain Reidulf Maalen, will take the helm of the Spirit of Oceanus for all three voyages. He brings not only a lifetime of maritime experience, but also a warm level of hospitality that has made him one of the most sought out captains in the industry.
Voyage 11: Honfleur to Oslo, encompasses Ireland, Scotland, and Scandinavia. The County of Wicklow -”the Garden of Ireland” — brings guests up close to domed granite mountains, deep glens and wooded valleys. Scotland’s Stornoway, with ancient standing stones, and the Orkney Islands, a designated UNESCO World Heritage Site and birders’ paradise, reflects Scotland’s wild beauty. Exploring Norway’s spectacular fjords and fishing villages includes another UNESCO World Heritage Site – Saltstraumen, just above the Arctic Circle. In addition, there are ample opportunities to observe the abundant wild life including large colonies of sea birds and pods of Orca whales. In Bergen, guests are treated to a private recital of composer Edvard Grieg’s music in the Troldsalen Concert Hall.
An excursion of Magerøy Island and The North Cape brings guests up close to life in the north (UEE). Guests will travel along the Skipsfjord to the fishing village of Kammøyvaer, populated by 100 hardy souls, before a trip to see some of the Sami people’s 4,000-reindeer herd that roams freely here during the summer months. Then, it’s onto Skarsvåg, the northernmost fishing village in the world, to shop for knitwear, Christmas decorations and more at the North Cape Christmas and Winter House.
The 19-night voyage departs July 19, 2010; prices start at $ 15,195 per person before savings. Add-on: pre-cruise three-night tour of Paris.
Voyage 12: Oslo to London focuses on history, art and architecture of Norway, Sweden, Denmark, Estonia and Russia. Visits to UNESCO World Heritage Sites include the Swedish walled city of Visby; the Estonian city of Tallinn — one of the finest medieval old towns in all of Northern Europe — and the opulence of St. Petersburg. Notable excursions include a tour of Denmark’s small villages — including Gudhjem, a vividly scenic fishing village — en route to majestic Hammershus Castle Ruin.
Excursion highlights include a visit to St. Petersburg’s Hermitage Museum (UEE). Founded by Catherine the Great in 1764, it’s one of the largest and oldest museums in the world with collections comprising nearly three million works. Then a short bus ride to the Peter and Paul Fortress, built by Peter the Great in 1703 with a final stop at the Church on the Spilled Blood.
The 15-night voyage departs Aug. 6, 2010; prices start at $ 12,495 per person before savings. Add-on: three-night pre- or post-cruise The Best of England from London.
Professor Ron Wixman, a specialist in world cultural and political geography and well versed in the societies of Europe and the former USSR, joins both Voyages 11 and 12. His expertise on the peoples and cultures of Northern Europe is extensive, and his informative lectures will provide both a historical and contemporary context for Norway.
Guest lecturer David Perry, an authority on maritime history and an avid collector of maritime literature, artifacts and stories joins Capt. Maalen on Voyage 13: London to St. John’s. Perry’s expertise will prove invaluable on this transatlantic voyage that includes two continents and countless unforgettable stops along the routes that the Vikings charted more than a thousand years ago.
Guests explore the Royal London and Buckingham Palace, before heading for Scotland, Iceland and Greenland. Among the excursions: Iceland’s thermal and geological wonders, including Reykjavik, a UNESCO World Heritage Site; and a visit to the Greenland settlement founded by Erik the Red. The voyage culminates with arrival to L’Anse aux Meadows in Newfoundland — site of Leif Eriksson’s Vinland and the first European settlement in North America, and now a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
A highlight of the voyage is a private reception aboard the Royal Yacht Britannia, hosted by Rear Admiral Sir Robert Woodard, KCVO, DL, the last serving Admiral, followed by a stirring performance of the annual Military Tattoo, one of Scotland’s proudest cultural events (UEE). First staged in 1950, this dramatic spectacle in Edinburgh Castle combines the traditional sounds of the bagpipes and drums with military marching drills.
The 19-night voyage departs Aug. 20, 2010; prices start at $ 12,795 per person before savings. Add-on: three-night pre- or post-cruise The Best of England, from London.
Book by Voyage or Multiple Segments
The Voyages of the Great Explorers – a cruise industry first — is a collection of 24 individual voyages (which can all be booked separately) that combine to form a 335-day circumnavigation of the world along the major routes inspired by history’s great ocean explorers. Beginning March 5, 2010, on board Cruise West’s flagship, the 120-guest, all-suite Spirit of Oceanus, the world voyage will sail ever westward, returning to Singapore on February 3, 2011.
Prices per voyage include a pre-cruise hotel night, all excursions and transfers and a tour of the embarkation city. Guests who book more than one voyage will save an additional five percent. Rates for all three voyages of Chapter 3 start at $ 38,595 before savings. For further details, visit www.CruiseWest.com, call 800-296-8307 or a travel professional.
